An employee has the right to employment leave during their notice period to participate in the preparation of an employment plan. The length of the employment leave is determined by the duration of the notice period:
Up to 1 month notice period: A maximum of 5 working days of leave.
Over 1 month but up to 4 months notice period: A maximum of 10 working days of leave.
Over 4 months notice period: A maximum of 20 working days of leave.
If your employment is terminated for financial or production-related reasons and you are 55 years of age or older, you may be entitled to enhanced change security. These services are designed to support your rapid re-employment.
Change security for those aged 55 and over includes:
Change security allowance (muutosturvaraha)
Change security training (muutosturvakoulutus)
Extended employment leave, which lasts for 5, 15, or 25 days.
The change security allowance is, on average, equal to one month’s salary. It is paid by your unemployment benefit provider (either an unemployment fund or Kela).
